On Saturday, October 28th, Advocate Capital, Inc.’s Team Hope hit the pavement in support of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The annual event brings together hundreds of people during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and encourages them to run, walk, or jog for the fight against the disease.
The Race for the Cure also allows participants to take even more action in the breast cancer movement by helping fundraise for its research programs, screenings, education and treatment. Not only do these efforts serve as a powerful tool to help the women and men currently battling the disease, but they help honor breast cancer survivors and the memory of those who lost their lives because of it.
This year, Advocate Capital volunteers participated in the Race for the Cure for our very own breast cancer survivor, Shirley Johnson, and took on the name “Team Shirley” in her honor. Despite the cold weather, each member of Team Shirley completed the 5K in great time, and we also exceeded our fundraising goal for the event by collecting more than $1,110 for the cause! Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us in this challenge! Your contribution will not only benefit Susan G. Komen and its mission, but it will make a tremendous impact toward ending breast cancer for good!
If you were unable to donate to our team before the Race for the Cure and would like to make a contribution, you can do so on our donation page through November 10, 2017! You can also visit our Facebook and Google+ pages to see pictures from the fun event!
