Our team recently volunteered at Book’em in Nashville. Book’em's mission is to create a more literate Nashville and ignite children’s passion for reading through book ownership and enthusiastic volunteers.
When Book’em donates books to children and teens in need, they want the books to be of good quality, like new, so that the recipients can feel proud of the books they get to own.
Our team sorted books, doing quality control to set aside any bent-up or torn books. Book'em takes those used quality books to a local used book shop to trade in for credits. They use the credits to buy like-new books to give to children.
After we sorted the books, we wiped the covers, removed stickers, and stamped them to say “Gift from Book’em” so the kids know the book is a gift for them to keep.
We processed a total of 827 books for distribution, and we gave a monetary donation that equates to approximately 200 books.
Thank you to all of our associate volunteers, and thank you to the Book’em team for all they do for the community!
