It is important for all attorneys to have a high-quality headshot taken to use on their website and in other forms of marketing. Here are a few helpful tips for your next headshot photoshoot.
Plan your outfit in advance of the photo shoot and try it on in front of a mirror. You want to make sure everything fits correctly and looks neat and professional. Avoid wearing patterns and choose colors that complement your complexion. Bring a lint roller to your shoot so you can make sure you don't have any pet hair or lint on your clothing that will show in the photo.
Professional photographer, Clinton Brandhagen wrote in his article for Attorney at Work that you should communicate with your photographer about any insecurities or concerns you may have so they can better guide your posing and adjust the lighting if needed.
Brandhagen suggests requesting your photographer take a few shots that are in landscape and more zoomed out so you can use them for a wider variety of purposes on your website and social media.
Once you have received the photos back from your photographer and you are satisfied with the editing, be sure to request high-resolution copies from your photographer and save the photos in a place where you and your team can easily access them later on for marketing purposes. Nothing is worse than coming up on an advertising deadline and having to dig for a photo only to find a pixelated version that isn't large enough to print.
