In the spirit of honoring Black History Month, Advocate Capital and Pinnacle Financial Partners' Culture Club Metro Center chapter came together to organize a fun event for associates.
The event kicked off with a delicious lunch from Slim & Huskies Pizza Beeria, a beloved Nashville black-owned business. For dessert, Chubby Hubby Bakery, owned by our Pinnacle teammate Dannielle Taylor, provided sweet treats including cookies, brookies, and mini cakes.
After we ate we played a couple of games, from black history-themed word search to black history trivia. Dagen Cherry found the most words in our word search game and received a Starbucks gift card. For our trivia event several associates tied for first, but after a quick tiebreaker Paul Myers took home the win.
Here are a few of the facts we learned through our trivia game:
- Tuskegee Institute of Alabama was founded by Booker T. Washington.
- Thurgood Marshall was the first African American to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
- Toni Morrison was the first Black woman to win a Nobel Prize in Literature.
- Jackie Robinson was the first African American athlete to play in Major League Baseball.
We had a great time learning about Black History, eating lunch, and socializing with one another. Thanks to all of the Culture Club members for hosting such a great event!
