In this episode of Cases That Made a Difference®, Donna Jones, President and Director of Associate & Client Experience at Advocate Capital, speaks with Sean Claggett, Attorney and Partner at Claggett & Skyes, about his and his team's recently secured historic landmark $485 million verdict in a New Mexico sexual abuse case against Acadia Healthcare, Inc., marking the largest single-plaintiff sexual abuse award ever.
The tragic case involved their eight-year-old client, who was placed in the home of a known predator by Acadia's subsidiaries, Desert Hills and Familyworks, despite their awareness of his history of abuse allegations. The jury awarded $80 million in compensatory damages and $405 million in punitive damages against Acadia, Desert Hills, Familyworks, and Garcia. Sean goes into depth on how he and his team utilized big data to secure his victory and bring justice to his client.
Advocate Capital, Inc. is thankful for the opportunity to support Claggett & Sykes and their work. If you would like to learn more about Sean’s groundbreaking big data research in his book Jury Ball, here: https://www.juryball.com/about-juryball-book/
