Christine Flynn, senior litigation paralegal at Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith, P.C., in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has been named the recipient of the 2015 Advocate Capital, Inc. / AAJ Paralegal of the Year Award.
Ms. Flynn was nominated for the award by Attorney James C. Haggerty. Attorney Haggerty commented, "Christine Flynn has worked with me for nearly 25 years. During that time, she has consistently performed at an exceptional level, beyond that of many of the young lawyers in the firm."
As the senior litigation paralegal, Ms. Flynn organizes all file materials, summarizes all information and documentation, prepares cases for trial and interacts directly with clients. Attorney Haggerty added, "She consistently goes out of her way to assist clients in all matters, maintaining close contact with them. She helps clients navigate the unfamiliar waters of personal injury litigation." In addition to her file responsibilities, she coordinates the efforts of the Case Managers in handling matters in the pre-litigation stage.
Ms. Flynn is a past president of The Philadelphia Association of Paralegals (PAP) and continues to serve as an active board member and chair of the Litigation and Professional Development Committees. Christine also serves as board liaison to The Legal Intelligencer, Pro Bono Coordinator and Liaison to the American Bar Association (ABA) for the Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service and is a member of the Paralegal Studies Advisory Board at the Community College of Philadelphia.
Ms. Flynn also serves as a mentor to paralegal students. She is involved in a variety of pro bono and community service activities including work with the Support Center for Child Advocates. She is a member of the National Notary Association (NNA) as well as a paralegal member of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (PAJ) and the Philadelphia Bar Association.
To be considered for this prestigious award, candidates must have demonstrated their value as members of a legal services team, shown dedication to the legal profession, and shown dedication to AAJ's mission. Ms. Flynn was selected from numerous entrants by the AAJ Paralegal of the Year Committee. In addition to a beautifully engraved award trophy, she will receive free airfare, hotel and conference registration for the AAJ Annual Convention July 11 – July 15, 2015 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
"We are so pleased to be able to collaborate with AAJ on this important award. Paralegals are a key component to any successful law firm. We hope that this award will help draw attention to the important work that they do in our Nation's civil justice system," commented Advocate Capital, Inc.'s President and Chief Executive Officer, Michael J. Swanson.
