Trial Lawyer Association conferences and conventions are not only great for getting your required CLE credits but they are also great for networking with other attorneys and legal professionals. Stefanie M. Marrone provides a few tips on what you should do after returning home from a conference to grow your network.
Marrone suggests that when you are back at your office you go through all of the business cards you gathered while at the conference and decide what action you want to take. You may want to connect with them on Linkedin or email them to set up a call or email. Adding this to your post-conference to-do list will ensure you won't let those business card connections go to waste in a drawer or folder.
If you had conversations with conference attendees and told them you'd send them any materials or further information or introduce them to another colleague, Marrone suggests sending follow-up emails to those people after your conference. You may want to keep notes about conversations or write information on the back of people's business cards so you remember what was discussed.
