According to NPR, Daily Harvest has issued a recall for their lentil and leek crumbles. The recall comes after many customers complained of feeling sick after eating the lentil and leek crumbles.
Many customers shared that they experienced nausea, vomiting, and liver damage after eating the product.
According to Lexblog.com, a lawsuit has been filed against Daily Harvest. The plaintiff is from Oklahoma and is suing the company for contamination of the lentil and leek crumbles.
The plaintiff purchased the product in early May. After the plaintiff ate the product later that same day, they started to experience abdominal pain and discomfort. The day after they consumed the product, they experienced more nausea and pain, leading to hospitalization.
The hospital gave the plaintiff pain medication and ran multiple tests, including a CT scan. The staff could not find any major problems and sent the plaintiff home with a recommendation to “eat a bland diet.”
The plaintiff consumed Daily Harvest’s lentil and leek crumbles in late May. The plaintiff went to the hospital again due to the same symptoms. The plaintiff was in the hospital for four days. The hospital staff let the patient know they were experiencing liver and gallbladder dysfunction.
A month later, their doctor advised the plaintiff to have gallbladder surgery.
The company has received over 400 reports of consumers reporting sickness due to eating the product. The lentil and leek crumble from April 28-June 17, 2022, have been recalled.
The recall includes 28,000 units of the crumbles sold across the country via direct sales or online purchases.
Daily Harvest has told all customers to throw away the lentil and leek crumble. The company has said they have reached out to customers who purchased the contaminated product.
