Have you ever needed to generate a list of random numbers? I do a lot of team-building events, and sometimes we want to do a random drawing. The random number generator is a helpful tool in Excel to perform this action.
If you want to generate a column of random numbers between 1 and 1000, enter the RAND formula and copy it down the column for each line item. The formula is =RAND()*(1-1000)+1000.
Note: The formula will change each time you make an update to your spreadsheet. If you want to keep the numbers you have generated, copy the numbers, then "paste special" the values.
We love feedback from our customers and implement suggestions often. What shortcut do you use the most? If you have a question or idea for a Microsoft Windows or an Excel tip that you would like to see, contact me, and I might feature it!
