Your law firm works with fantastic clients, referral sources, and vendors all year round and you may want to show that appreciation in the form of a gift if your state's ethics rules allow it. Here are a few helpful tips for choosing the perfect gift to give to those people your firm cares about.
Shop Local
If you are brainstorming for a thoughtful gift idea, think about the local businesses you love. Not only will you be supporting your community but giving a gift that showcases the area you and your firm call home. At Advocate Capital, we love to gift Christie Cookies. They are a bakery that started in Nashville where our headquarters is located and our entire team thinks they are delicious.
Practical Presents
Your firm may decide you want the gift to have your logo printed on it, but you don't know what gift to choose. Practical items that your recipient will use are great for branded gifts to ensure the item is appreciated instead of discarded. Multi-tools and car emergency kits are two examples of gifts that people can always use. It can be helpful to ask your sales rep what is popular or what they recommend to get ideas. Ask for a sample so you can test the quality before ordering.
Take Notes
If your firm wants to give more personalized gifts, keep notes throughout the year of things your clients and colleagues mention in conversation. Write down what sports teams the individual likes, what types of activities or restaurants they enjoy, or what charities they support. Your firm is busy and you have a multitude of things to remember, so keeping notes is a thoughtful, easy way to show you care.
Don't forget to include a card, preferably handwritten, to top off any gift your firm chooses. A sentimental, or even funny, message will make your recipient smile and feel appreciated.
