Advocate Capital Inc. was honored to sponsor the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers' Charities (LATLC) fourth annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament held on February 25, 2024. This is Advocate's first year sponsoring the event, thanks to Kramer Trial Lawyers, a nine-year client of Advocate Capital, who introduced us to LATLC over the years and even teamed up for the tournament! The event raised over $87,000 toward adaptive tricycles for children with special needs and this summer's upcoming "Great Tryke Giveaway," where 15-20 bikes are customized to each child's particular needs and enable them to ride with friends and family, many for the first time.
LATLC is an entirely volunteer-run 501c3 nonprofit organization. Founded in 2006 by a group of plaintiff personal injury attorneys in the Los Angeles area, their objective is to positively impact the lives of those in need in Southern California. Through fundraising, events, media, and word of mouth, the group grew quickly to a few hundred founding friends and acting members who all share the same goal of giving back and improving their community. By 2012, LATLC had nearly 300 supporters and distributed $250,000 back to the community.
LATLC continues to grow, works with 120 partner charities, has volunteered over 9,000 hours, and has raised over $5.5M for their community. They are considered a "pass-through" charity, meaning they give what they raise, so every dollar counts! Their annual events allow LATLC to provide yearly grants to their partner charities, college scholarships, youth funds, and various special events throughout the year.
