One of the biggest components of creating a positive client experience is to demonstrate compassion toward your client through what may be one of the worst times of their life. To be understood and heard is invaluable for clients when working with a law firm.
Below are some simple refreshers that can help attorneys handle their cases and client relationships and create a positive experience for their clients.
1.) Treatment
Plaintiff attorneys often handle a variety of cases ranging from minor injuries to catastrophic ones. Smaller cases may only impact the client for the short term, but it also may be their only case. With this aspect in mind, it's critical to remember how important this event is in their life without comparing it to other cases.
2.) Contact
Many attorneys will build relationships with their clients and provide frequent in-person meetings, personal phone numbers, and office staff introductions so the client knows exactly who they are communicating with. Offering to meet at a client's home or at the hospital can be a major relief for that client and their family. Having close contact and flexible availability helps the client feel comfortable and supported during a very stressful time of their lives.
3.) Empathy
Expressing empathy to your client in your responses demonstrates more than just listening skills, but lets them know you fully understand the tragedy and trauma in their case. Ask questions and really get to know your client. Putting yourself in the victim's shoes leads to empathy when you are speaking to the jury and helps them connect with the victims and their case.
At Advocate Capital, we are thankful for plaintiff law firms, like our clients, who support their clients with compassion and kindness and help them fight for the justice they deserve.
