We are proud to announce that our friend and client, Kay Van Wey of Van Wey, Metzler & Williams, PLLC, is presenting on Institutional Negligence at the American Association of Justice Convention on Saturday, July 15, 2023.
Ms. Van Wey is a successful plaintiff injury attorney specializing in medical malpractice cases.
Van Wey successfully represented plaintiffs injured by "Dr. Death" in the Dallas, TX, area, holding Dr. Duntsch and the hospitals accountable for malice and malicious intent.
Ms. Van Wey's work on the cases against Dr. Duntsch eventually led to the local District Attorney's office pursuing and trying a case against Christopher Duntsch.
Van Wey says of Institutional Negligence:
We actually have an EPIDEMIC of preventable medical errors in the U.S. Although we spend more money per patient on healthcare in the U.S., we fare much worse on outcomes than many other developed countries. In some instances, such as maternal mortality and infant mortality, certain states fare worse than some 3rd world countries.
Kay continues to promote patient safety and holds institutions liable for their negligence by spreading awareness on national news outlets. She maintains her commitment by educating the next generation of legal professionals as an adjunct professor at the SMU Dedman School of Law.
Advocate Capital, Inc. is proud to support Plaintiff Injury attorneys like Kay Van Wey and her team at Van Wey, Metzler & Willams as they fight for justice for their clients by holding institutions accountable.
