One of my favorite events at the American Association for Justice Annual Convention every year is the presentation of the Advocate Capital, Inc./American Association for Justice Paralegal of the Year Award. The 2019 recipient, Lisa West, is an exceptional career paralegal. The presentation was made in San Diego, CA and it was an honor to spend time with Lisa, her husband and representatives from her firm. Watch our video below to see the presentation of the award.
Ms. West displays not only what a consummate paralegal professional should be, but what an exceptional human being should be. The lengthy and detailed nomination letter submitted by partner William W.C. Harty, of Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, LC headquartered in Newport News, Virginia confirmed her selection as the 2019 winner in short order.
Attorney Harty’s nomination included:
She has served our firm her community, the local paralegal associations, the court system, her church, and AAJ admirably for 26 years. Her professional and personal life is based on a core ideal of standing up for the underdog and helping them stand up to oppressive forces in their lives. And she does this whether those oppressors are defendant companies that she helps us defeat at work or adverse socio-economic forces that she helps underprivileged people overcome in her personal activities.
As a result of her many contributions and offices held in the Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association (VaPPA), she has been nominated to serve as President for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
Advocate Capital, Inc. and the American Association for Justice are proud to partner for this award recognizing the hard work, dedication and many contributions of paralegals to our civil justice system. Ms. West and professionals like her clearly make a difference helping trial lawyers achieve justice for injured clients.
Congratulations Lisa West on a spectacular career and job well done!
