Steve McElroy and Ashley Parris of McElroy Parris Trial Lawyers brought in a $2 million settlement on the eve of trial in Ventura, California.
The case involved a 29-year-old woman who was in a minor traffic collision with a dump truck. There was very minor damage to the car and no damage to the truck; however, the young woman left the scene with back and neck pain. The pain got progressively worse, and nothing was helping.
Eight months after the collision, the client had microsurgery on a disc in her lumbar spine. The surgery helped her back, but the neck pain persisted. Three years after the collision, she ended up having an artificial disc replacement in her cervical spine. The young woman went on to have chronic neck pain.
The defense in the case was fierce. They retained nine experts for the trial, including an accident reconstruction engineer, biomechanical engineer, spine surgeon, pain medicine doctor, life care planner, radiologist, vocational expert, medical billing expert, and an economist. They were geared up to fight on every issue, including liability, causation, and all damages.
Ashley commented that chronic pain cases are never simple. You must be ready for a long, tough fight, and you must be 100% ready to try the case to get a just result. Ashley is passionate about cases involving people who suffer chronic pain, particularly women. McElroy Parris has gained its reputation by taking on trial cases from other lawyers who look to their expertise in chronic pain cases.
