690 pounds of Buc-ee’s Hill Country brand teriyaki beef jerky was recalled by Junior’s Smokehouse Processing Plant in El Campo, TX because the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said it may contain pieces of hard metal.
The product specifically is four-ounce plastic pouches of “Buc-ee’s Hill Brand Teriyaki Beef Jerky” with a best-by date of 08-09-2019 and a lot code of 220-272.
According to the FSIS, a class II recall is when the adverse health consequences caused by eating the product are only remotely possible.
The product was produced on August 9th and shipped to retail locations in Texas. A customer reported metal pieces found in the bag on September 17th, and the recall was made on September 21st.
No adverse heath consequences have been reported, but consumers are encouraged to throw away this potentially hazardous product or take it back to the location where they purchased it.
