Change organized chaos into just being organized by creating long-term healthy habits that encourage a decluttered and structured office. Andrea Cannavina shared some of her tips in an article for Attorney at Work. Avoiding surprises and saving time are the keys to productivity, and you can achieve these goals by following these simple steps:
1. Start with having a station and place for all of your office items, including digital ones on your computer. To avoid wasting time looking for something, make sure all folders are easily accessible and labeled.
2. It's essential that everything in your office has a dedicated space, including you!
As a rule of thumb, Cannavina states, an office should have its door for privacy. That way, you have fewer mental distractions and focus on what is needed.
3. In addition to creating new processes, such as creating a cleaner, more dedicated environment, it's important to minimize stress in the workplace. Utilize digital tools to help automate tasks and establish a routine for addressing items in a timely manner.
4. Keeping a notebook near you while you work can help you stay on top of your new schedule. Writing things down physically is typically better for memory. It’s important to be realistic about what you plan to accomplish in a day. Part of being mentally on top of things includes being mentally refreshed and prepared.
No matter how organized you are, you will never be 100% accurate 100% of the time. That's just how life is. Cannavina says that the journey begins with one little step, and each day offers you the opportunity to take it. When you wake up to a brand new day, you remain optimistic and understand that every day is a new chance. So, grab your notebook and take it one step at a time.
