For the past four years, Advocate Capital, Inc.’s Team Hope has partnered with The Injury Board on its IB Day of Action. The day serves as a reminder for The Injury Board’s member firms to give back and make an impact in their community. To mark the occasion this year, we volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, a nonprofit that works to feed hungry people and solve hunger issues throughout 46 counties in the state. According to Second Harvest, 1 in 7 Middle Tennesseans struggle to put food on the table every day. Our volunteers wanted to slash those statistics and help people in need gain access to delicious meals this holiday season.
To embrace Second Harvest’s mission, our team assisted with the food bank’s “Middle Tennessee Table,” a feeding program supplied by the frozen meat, dairy, produce and nonperishable goods of more than 200 grocery stores and food donors. Our task was sorting the frozen goods donated by these organizations and packing them up in the (40-degree) freezer. Despite the cold temperatures, we had an amazing time completing the task! And with the help of another group volunteering at Second Harvest, we were able to sort 7,387 pounds of food—enough to create nearly 6,200 meals for Tennessee families! We are so thankful to be able to partner with the nonprofit to make an impact like this on the community!

You can also help us continue to fight hunger this season by donating to our virtual food drive now through Friday, December 1st! Second Harvest’s most-needed items are canned meat, canned vegetables and fruit, soup, cereal, peanut butter, and pasta.
