Although Thanksgiving may be behind us, Advocate Capital, Inc. wants to continue to help others in our community gain access to delicious meals this holiday season. We have partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, a nonprofit in Nashville that works to feed hungry people and solve hunger issues in our area, to do just that. Advocate Capital’s Team Hope is doing all they can to help the 1 in 7 Middle Tennesseans who struggle to put food on the table.
One way Team Hope is fighting hunger alongside Second Harvest is through our two food drives. We are hosting one food drive in our office and another virtually in hopes of collecting most-needed items like canned meat, vegetables, and fruit. Team Hope also recently made a visit to the Second Harvest facility. We assisted with one of the nonprofit’s most vital feeding programs, Middle Tennessee’s Table. The grocery rescue program provides nonperishable goods, as well as frozen meat, dairy, and produce from more than 200 stores and food donors throughout the state.
During our time at the Food Bank, we helped sort 11,816 pounds of food. Second Harvest says this food will go towards creating nearly 1,000 meals. Advocate Capital, Inc. supports Second Harvest’s mission to fight hunger in Middle and West Tennessee, and we are thankful to be able to work together with the nonprofit to make an impact on our community.
