Last month, the Executive Client Managers at Advocate Capital took a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training class hosted by Pinnacle Financial Partners Capitol View office. It was a fun and great experience for the team. The class served as a great team building exercise- we acquired a new skill and had a great time!
The class was led by a retired Detroit cop who has performed CPR on over 100 individuals. We learned hands-on CPR techniques, including breaths, and how to perform CPR on an infant/toddler. He shared with us the importance of acting if we see someone needing help and ensuring that we feel safe and comfortable performing mouth-to-mouth CPR. It was a lot tougher than it looks and sounds. It can be strenuous when done in the appropriate beat and intervals, so learning the proper form and technique is crucial to keep your muscles from tiring out too quickly.
Although the class was made into a fun experience, we are reminded that this is a technique that can save a life. We were given great examples of different situations and how the various sizes of people will matter at the time. Our instructor answered our questions in detail so that we could fully understand the response.
We are grateful that wellness is a priority in this workplace and that we are provided with the tools to engage in events for everyone’s varied interests.
